Una bilancia commerciale positiva indica un surplus commerciale mentre una bilancia commerciale negativa indica un deficit commerciale. Il BOT è una componente importante nel determinare il conto corrente di un paese.

Turkey’s trade deficit widened to USD 7.77 billion in February 2025 from USD 6.77 billion in the same month of the previous year. Exports fell 1.6% year-on-year to USD 20.76 billion, mainly due to lower sales in manufacturing (-2%). However, outbound shipments increased in agriculture, forestry, and fishing (+3.2%) and mining and quarrying (+0.8%). Turkey’s largest export destination was Germany, accounting for 8.1% of total shipments, followed by the UK (6%), the US (5.8%), Italy (5.2%), and Iraq (4.9%). Meanwhile, imports rose 2.4% to USD 28.53 billion, driven by higher purchases of intermediate goods (+8.2%) and a surge in other goods (+408.8%). The top import sources were Russia (13.5%), China (12.5%), Germany (7.5%), the US (7.5%), and Switzerland (4.3%). For the first two months of the year, the trade deficit expanded to USD 15.31 billion from USD 12.95 billion.
