Orders for Taiwanese exports surged by 19.8% year-on-year to over two-year high of USD 56.4 billion in April 2025 from 12.5% gain in the previous month and easily exceeding market expectations of 10% increase. Exports orders accelerated for electronic products (35% vs 21.8% in March), machineries (5.8% vs 2.3%), and ICT products (20% vs 11.4%). In addition, exports orders declined at a softer pace for chemicals (-0.02% vs -8.7%) and textile products (-1.1% vs -6.7%). Meanwhile, orders moderated for transport equipment (3.3% vs 15.1%), electrical machinery (9.2% vs 11.1%), and optical and photographic products (4.2% vs 10.4%). At the same time, orders declined at a faster pace for plastics (-8.8% vs -6.1%), basic metals (-11.1% vs -3.8%), and mineral products (-8.7% vs -6.5%). Among key trade partners, demand increased most in ASEAN countries (32.8%), followed by the USA (30.3%) and Japan (16.3%).
