The unemployment rate in Malta stood at 2.9% in the fourth quarter of 2024, unchanged from the same period last year. The number of unemployed individuals fell slightly by 446 year-on-year to 9,566, while inactive persons dropped by 2,187 to 159,510. Meanwhile, the employment rate increased to 80.8% from 78.7% a year ago, as the number of employed persons increased by 13,266 to 325,631. The activity rate for the quarter rose to 83.3% from 81.3% in the previous year, with the highest rate recorded among persons aged 25 to 54 (91.7%).
