Consumer prices in Brunei fell 0.6% year-on-year in June 2025, following a 0.5% decline in the previous month marking the fourth straight month of deflation and the steepest since October 2024. The decrease was driven by continued fall in cost of food and non-alcoholic beverages (-0.1% vs -0.7% in May), clothing and footwear (-5.4% vs -1.0%), housing and utilities (-0.1% vs -0.2%), transport (-0.7% vs -0.8%), communication (-0.3%), recreation and culture (-2.3% vs -1.6%), and miscellaneous goods and services (-0.1% vs -0.2%). Meanwhile, inflation eased in health (1.0% vs 1.6%), restaurants and hotels (0.2% vs 0.3%), and education (0.2% vs 0.3%). In contrast, prices for furnishings and household maintenance rose 0.1%, rebounding from a 0.7% decline in May. On a monthly basis, consumer prices edged down 0.03% in June, following a 0.1% drop in May, pointing to the second consecutive monthly decline.
